"All legitimate art should engage the viewer."

Well then, what is a legitimate
ABSTRACT? Scott does not think that abstract means a canvas that has been removed from a wall (or floor) after being repeatedly subjected to random acts of paint. Rather, to be legitimate art, an abstract must be based on design.

OK, what does that mean as applied to Scott's
abstracts, or indeed any abstract?

It means you should only buy an
abstract that satisfactorily answers the question, "When I enter this room of my special place -- my home, my office -- does this painting engage my attention and will it continue to do so?"
